An Ayurvedic Summer

by EastWest on May 6th, 2007

One of my friends is local spa expert who appears on the small screen regularly with tips of the trade. She’s quite the pro. But when it came time to do a segment on a movement in Eastern beauty, she ran into a slight problem…she couldn’t pronounce the word! Even with practice, it was a hopeless cause, but still, she went on determined to let the world know of this great system.

Her challenge: Ayurveda.

Why is it so great?

This ancient science from the East takes a holistic approach to medicine and now beauty. It is not about fixing one symptom or one part of the body, ayurveda treats the person as a whole even when the symptoms are acne, rough skin or fine lines… Make sense? It is a system of herbs and plant oils that works on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual all in one shot. A pretty sweet deal!

One of my favorite ayurvedic beauty lines is Kama Ayurveda and with summer gardens in bloom all around, their Les Jardin’s line seems the perfect way to give my holistic beauty regimen an overhaul for warmer weather.

Tone with rosewater to balance skin…plus if you love the scent of roses, trust me, there is nothing better.

I have some sitting in our editorial closet at the magazine…just talking about it makes me want to run home and wash my hair. Weird I know.
