Guess Who has a Victoria Beckham-esque Hair Now?

by Sasha Manuel on January 18th, 2008

Victoria Beckham, Posh Spice Hair | Beauty Bento Box, The Asian Beauty BlogYou’ve got three seconds to guess.

Three..

Two..

One!

Didjagetitright?

Alright, fine.

ME. I do.

I spent most of yesterday out on lunch meetings, coffee with friends and another meeting. We did a bit of window shopping, too. But finally our final stop before dinner is back to F Salon in First Aid, Greenbelt. I’ve got a date with the other Rico in my life. My hairstylist, Rico Gallego.

Oh, yes. I know it’s just close to a month since I had my bob hair cut but I was itching to get something shorter. Yes, shorter than the hair I’m sporting now. Heh.

Without further ado, it’s Sasha — from Bob to Pob!

Sasha 01.18.08

It does remind me of Posh Spice Victoria Beckham’s ‘do (hence, the “Pob” name, get it?). Don’t you agree? I never really planned to get something similar it somehow ended up like that. I just told Rico what I had wanted done and then — ta-da! — me in this really short ‘do.

It’s really cropped at the back and yes, it’s longer down the front. It’s definitely edgy. Something really new for me.

What do you guys think?

    I think it’s cute.
It looks better on you than it does on her!

Hi Sasha! It is similar to Posh’s but it looks nothing like her signature style. It is a well known fact that women will go to a stylist with a picture of a hairstyle they like and want the stylist to reproduce it. The problem is their faces are different and the style will look different on each women. What the woman is really asking of the stylist is “Make me look like Victoria Beckham.” A brilliant stylist once told me that when his clients hand him a picture of a woman wearing a hairstyle that they would like the stylist to duplicate, he promptly takes his scissors and cuts out the face of the woman and tosses it in the trash. This, he says, draws a clear picture to his client that he can recreate the STYLE with no problem, but he can not give her a new face. My point is, no one looks like Posh in her Pob. You don’t even vaguely resemble Victoria Beckham, so enjoy this haircut as your own.

Sharon: Thanks, that’s kind of you to say. I still think Posh’s hair is Posh’s hair. :)

ValerieSara: Read the post. I didn’t ask my stylist to copy Victoria Beckham’s “signature hairstyle”, it just turned out sorta’ like her hair as featured in the Posh photo above (like I said in the post). And yes, I do plan to enjoy my haircut. Have a good day.

Phoebe: Yes, I know. It’ll take a bit while to get use to, though. I keep running my hand over the back of my head every few minutes! LOL. XD

Confused. I did read your post and you asked for comments (”What do you guys think?”). That’s what I think. Maybe you were looking for some kind of confirmation that you look wonderful, I would suspect from your reaction to my comment, which I assure you, was an honest observation of what happens when we visit the stylist. Even without a picture, as was apparently the case with you, stylists sometimes have the current trend in mind when we ask them to cut our hair in a shorter bob or whatever the current trend happens to be. What comes to their minds is the Pob, for instance, and that’s apparently what your stylist had in mind for you without you even asking for it. Whatever the case, the style is yours alone because you have your own unique style and that’s a good thing!

ValerieSara: No, I wasn’t looking for compliments. That question is for people who are my friends and everyone else who wish to be my friend. Quite a normal question from someone who has had her hair cut. Your comment was meant to put me and my choice of haircut down and not wanting me to compare it with Posh’s. Chill out. It’s just a post about a haircut and it was meant to be fun. This is my blog, my home. Be decent. People who aren’t nice aren’t welcome. But thanks for your thoughts, though.

Gloria: LOL. I really can’t say that I am. But thanks, it was kind of you to say so. Other people can be so catty sometimes, yeah?

My comment was not meant to put you or your haircut down. I have the same haircut and so do lots of other women as of late. My point was no one looks the same, even with the same haircut, If, as you clearly implied, I’m not welcome on your blog, your home because you perceive me to not be decent, it seems then that you don’t really want opinions from those who do not mirror your opinions and begs the question then, what’s the point of asking readers for their opinions and comments? Thank you for the response, though.

I think Sasha took issue with the fact that you missed the point of her post. She only used Posh Spice as an analogy to discuss the haircut she had, not to equate herself with the former Spice Girl. You’re trying to negate a point that didn’t exist in the first place, proving that your comment was just for the sake of being negative perhaps?

Thanks for the kind response. Rico. I will simply state that no harm was intended; I only meant to open a discussion not to hurt feelings. Sometimes, on paper words “sound” differently than they do when we speak to each other in person.
