Send Off Gift: Swiss & Shiatsu Massage

by Sasha Manuel on February 29th, 2008

WM Medical SpaAs a way to send me off to Vietnam and Cambodia, teh boyfriend had scheduled a bit of relaxation time for us, as a couple, with a bit of a massage at WM Medical Spa.

He’s been frequenting this place to get his regular dose of massage and has been suggesting that I’d give it a go. I’m not particularly fond of massages, all due to the fact that I’m pretty averse to having some stranger touch me (even people whom I know actually). But since I’ve been complaining about backaches and neck strains, I finally decided to give in and allowed myself to be pampered this way. I reckon since I was too stressed with all the last minute preparations of the trip, this treat will help relieve some of them.

WM Medical Spa, Couples Room

We decided to get a couples room so we can literally enjoy the massage together, er, relatively (it had a separator). We got to talk a bit while our muscles were getting pounded and kneaded. We availed of the combo massage package, which included the Swiss and Shiatsu massage at relatively lower rate. More value for money, me thinks.

The Swiss massage involved a lot of heavy and strong rubbing while the Shiatsu massage concentrated on pressing on distinct pressure points to alleviate the pain or stress on the muscles.

The masseuse focused on the muscles on my calves, which was a good thing since I know I’ll be subjected to extensive walks during the trip, think Angkor Wat. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed the massage. Absolutely. I even told teh boyfriend I want to go back. Soon.

The room created a good ambiance, which aided in the whole relaxation part. It’s not too big but it’s alright. Not too cramped either. I loved the aromatherapy that’s part of the whole thing (don’t spas have that sorta’ built in? Hehe). It was definitely soothing.

I actually fell asleep during the massage, which was a first for me!

The combo rate was at Php 500.00, which lasted an hour. WM Medical Spa is located along Aguirre Avenue, BF Homes, ParaƱaque City, Philippines.

If any of you Manila-based beauties have experienced going to this particular spa, let me know. I’d love to hear your thoughts about their services. Perhaps you an recommend something you’ve already tried.

True Swedish massage is actually relatively light to medium pressure (depending on the clients preference) and is mainly to move the toxins out of your body so it SHOULD be fluid and very relaxing.
I hope this wasn’t an unpleasant experience.
I am a certified massage therapist and most clients want REALLY firm hard pressure for Swedish and it’s really not meant to be that way but I noticed most therapist will accommodate them and this is why I think they automatically use too much pressure for those not expecting it.
