What is the best gel liner?
I’ve been contemplating on buying myself a gel liner for quite a while now, simply to add variety of looks to my makeup application techniques. I’ve always used shadows and eye pencils for lines. Wouldn’t it be a great idea to try something different?
I’ve put off using gel liners cuz I find them too tiresome to put on but seeing how Sophie demonstrated how she applied it on someone, created a want in me. Reason for applying liners, gel or otherwise, is to put emphasis on the eyes. They bring out the eyes, adds shape and definition. Imagine, I spend so much time on putting on eye makeup alone and now I’m even thinking of adding on effort and time to it by using a gel liner.
But, of course, I’m also experimenting on other ways to do my eye makeup in a different way, hence, the need of a different makeup.
I spotted this Espresso Cream Gel Liner from Therapy Systems today and made me wonder if it’s a good buy. I certainly like that it’s packaged as a compact, comes with mirror and all, and I like that it’s in brown. I’ve always preferred using brown on pencils. I hardly use black. I reckon the brown makes everything looks more natural, esp with my skin tone.
Do you guys have any suggestions? I’ll still be rummaging makeup counters in the mall. I’m hoping to find that perfect gel liner. Meanwhile, I appreciate your thoughts!

It’s been a few years since I was in Manila, so I’m not sure if stores carry the L’Oreal HIP line, but they have some creme liners that work extremely well. I’ve heard the Stila smudge pots are also really good.

my fave for super oily lids would be shiseido’s the makeup accentuating gel liner. mac fluidline would be for less oily lids. both hold up pretty well on my lids in Singapore’s weather!

I’ve only tried Bobbi Brown’s gel liners and I’ve enjoyed it so much I haven’t thought about trying any others. But I hear that Shiseido has a really great one too!

Bare Escentuals liner sealer + any mineral to mix with is my dose of lining bliss :)

Diana: I better scout the makeup counters around here and see if L’Oreal HIP is around, Stila, too. Thanks for the suggestion! :)
Daphne: Good thing you were able to test Shiseido in a climate similar to where I live. Thanks, I’ll check it out, too. :)
Lilan: So that’s two votes for Shiseido. Good, good. I’ll look into Bobbi Brown, too. Thanks, Lilan! :)
Sophie: Oh, yes. You mineral makeup addict, you. LOL. But that suggestion is a pretty handy one and not to mention something I can try real, real soon! All I need is the liner sealer. Paging Claude? LOL. Thanks, Sophie! :)

My vote goes to MAC Fluidlines :) I have it in DipDown (Brown) and Black Track!
I’ve tried a cheaper alternative, Elianto, but I’m not that happy with the results. It doesn’t go on smoothly like MAC, and you end up with a very messy eyeliner.
The Face Shop has one as well, but I haven’t tried it out.
Smashbox is good too. Similar to MAC :)

Aw, man. I’m gonna go broke for sure! Argh. Two votes for MAC Fluidlines. AND two votes for the mineral + Bare Escentuals liner sealant. Sore news for Bobbi, though. It’s a +1, -1 for it. Thanks for this one, Phoebe! :)

I vote for Loose Lips New Yorks version. They have it in Black Cherry. Absolutely AWESOME and much more affordable. Talk to Sherry over there, she’s super. :)

Hi! I only have MAC Fluidline, but I would recommend it :) Try Milan Gelle Drops mixed with mineral eyeliner or eyeshadow. It doesn’t budge!!!!

That’s three votes for the MAC Fluidlines. And now three people are pushing me to really experiment on mixing. I need a crash course on it! LOL. Thanks, Crissy! :)

Bionic Beauty: Wow, thanks for suggesting that! I need to do a bit of reading to get to know the brand better. :) I hope Sherry won’t mind if I ask her a lot of questions. LOL. XD

I use the Loreal Gel liners and they are extremely easy to apply and stay put for …basically all day! The other brand that I use is called Indelible Gel Eyeliners…various MMU companies on the web carry these…I suggest the Black Cherry or Peacock shades…fabulous!

Hi Sasha! I know this is kinda late but I just have to tell you this! I definitely will recommend you to try Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner! It’s the BEST. Even in hot, humid climate or even during a tearjerker, it doesn’t smudge or budge! And I have oily lids, no less! ;-) Initially, I bought only one pot of the liner (and that can last ages) and I am so hooked that I now have 4 pots! And the very best thing about BB liner? They come in myriad of shades, including shimmery ones… my fav is Chocolate Shimmer. Since you mentioned you like brown eyeliner, I think you’ll love this!
(Phew! This is LONG… so maybe 5 votes for BB eyeliner? :-p) Ta!

Sara: I’ve encountered the Indelible Gel Eyeliners (courtesy of Sophie of Beautynomics and Beauty Gizmo) I believe that’s the one she used on Jonna as seen on the photo. I wasn’t able to try it, though! L’Oreal, huh? Another one to check out, I guess! :)
Corren: I’m actually looking at Bobbi Brown now that I’m hearing such great reviews. I’ll let you know if I do end up getting one! :)
